In her work, Lara Dâmaso deals with the interplay of body and voice, exploring therapeutic, expressive as well as political potentials of these two endogenous media. In doing so, she treats the voice in its close, vibrational relationship to the body, based more on sensitive experientiality than on decisions of the mind. Thus, Dâmaso exposes and debunks power structures anchored in the disciplined use of this instrument. At the Stockargut Garden Pavilion in Zurich the artist presents a performance developed especially for the baroque-style space which with its connotation as a former orangery inherits bourgeois traits and structures. In referring to the concept of the “Salon Musical” Dâmaso plays with the aesthetics of the Pavillon and its seemingly engraved historical destiny.
