Lento Violento uses liscio, a traditional Italian couple's dance, with its swaying rhythms and sliding repetitions, to explore delay and tension. Through cinematic episodes and fragments of intimate dances unfolding around a wooden installation, it looks at desire as a ritualized, public process, continuously worked out between people. Inspired by the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, the performance moves between darkness and light, impulse and restraint, revealing the emotional charge of what remains hidden—what can be sensed but not fully seen. Two performers navigate spirals, turns, unison, and solitude, building a physical dialogue of closeness and separation.
Elena Francalanci is an Italian artist and choreographer based in Berlin. Trained in classical ballet and modern dance at Balletto di Toscana in Florence, she developed her practice across dance companies before relocating to Berlin, where her work expanded into the intersection of performance, visual art, and curation. Her practice is site-specific and grounded in the present, shaped by immediate gesture, and the emotional states of the body. Attentive to cinematic logic, the dramaturgy of timing and improvisation, she constructs performances that build through repetition and intensity, merging classical forms with contemporary and pop culture references. From 2023, Elena is the co-founder and curator of MOLT, a curatorial project in Berlin. Her work has been presented at Sophiensæle Berlin, Silent Green, Berlin Art Week, CRIPTA 747, Traklhaus Salzburg, Schaubühne Leipzig, Garage Gallery Prague, and other venues.
